A man and a woman were found dead in a house fire early Monday in west suburban Addison. CBS 2’s Susanna Song reports.
Addison police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:19 AM Monday January 22, 2018 to a report of a fire at the back of the house at 756 South Ellsworth Ave Addison, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report from a person driving by that a house was on fire — possibly a report of a fire at the back of the house.
Battalion Chief 71 on arrival reported a well-involved single-family home at 2:33 a.m. with heavy smoke showing. The fire was burning at the right-rear corner of the house
The fire was burning through the roof by about 2:50 a.m., and two bedrooms had been searched by that time with no victims found.
The fire caused a roof collapse, which may have already been happening just as firefighters first arrived. The fire had apparently been burning for awhile before firefighters arrived. The two victims were later found dead inside the house — possibly about 3:35 a.m. (not confirmed officially).
Fire investigators from the Addison Fire Protection District, Addison Police Department and State Fire Marshal’s Office were at the scene investigating the fatal fire later Monday monring morning.
