Lake Forest police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:14 p.m. Wednesday December 27, 2017 to a report of a woman and her dog in Lake Michigan waters at the South Launch at Forest Park Beach.
Police were first on scene by 3:16 p.m. and reported the woman was still in the water. She was out of the water when firefighters arrive. They found her on a break wall and used a rope to secure and assist her up a ladder to a concrete walkway. She was transported to an undisclosed hospital for treatment, where she was listed in good condition.
The dog was transported by police to an animal hospital, and treated and released.
The dog had gone into the water and the woman had followed to rescue the dog.
Firefighters and divers responded from nearby communities, but most were returned before they arrived as the woman were immediately brought to safety.
