Peak winds arrived later than forecast yesterday morning, and peaked about 12 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. this morning, instead of about 7:00 p.m. yesterday as forecast. From 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. there were several locations reporting gusts to 50-55 mph. Wind gusts have eased down, but winds are expected to pick up again later this morning into the afternoon with gusts again near 45 mph, peaking about 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Wind Advisory is extended until 6:00 p.m.
Lesser gusty winds are then expected to continue until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017.
Precipitation has cleared the area, but temperatures have dropped about 30°F compared to temperatures yesterday. Temperatures are in a slow free fall now. The temperature at 5:51 a.m. was 36°F and is forecast to slowly drop all day and overnight to 24°F about midnight or just after midnight on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.
Arlington Heights Fire Department apparently only responded to one Activated Fire Alarm in storm-related calls.
Only one major moderate power outage exist this morning in the area of a Park Street and Roosevelt Road where a downed tree affected power lines. About 56 ComEd customers are without power. ComEd crews are working and the power is expected to be restored by 12:00 p.m. Tuesday December 5, 2017. About 40 ComEd customers are affected by storm-related power outages on either side east-to-west near Rand Road and Kensington Road.
