Fox Lake police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:50 p.m. Friday December 1, 2017 in front of the Fox Lake Police Department, 301 Route 59, Fox Lake.
Several vehicles were were hit when they were stopped in traffic when when another vehicle rear-ended one of the vehicles, resulting in a chain reaction crash.
Several people were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
All six vehicles were towed.
Police reported a citation likely will be issued for the driver who hit the first vehicle and started the chain-reaction crash.
Another driver involved in the crash was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, Lee said. He said he did not have more information on the person who was arrested for DUI.
Route 59 in Fox Lake was temporarily closed for about 30 to 45 minutes.
The crash was the second crash of the day that occurred in front of a police station in Lake County, Illinois. Riverwoods police and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods firefighter/paramedics and Deerfield-Bannockburn firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:25 a.m. near the Riverwoods police station, 845 Saunders Road after a single-vehicle crash involved a rollover into an electricity utility police. The crash in Riverwoods caused a power outage.
In August 2017, an SUV crashed into a wall of the Round Lake Park police station on Main Street (Route 134).
