Elgin police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:24 PM Sunday December 10, 2017 to a report of a house explosion near the home’s garage with fire at a house just north of Elgin Mall — dispatch address estimated from position on satellite map, 248 South McClean Boulevard Elgin, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a house explosion near the home’s garage with fire at a house just north of Elgin Mall. The dispatch address was estimated from the described position correlated to a satellite map.
Engine 4’s crew reported a header showing, and the respond was subsequently upgraded to a working fire response.
Battalion Chief 1 on arrival reported a fully-involved house fire by 7:36 p.m.
Battalion Chief 1 reported he can’t confirm the address because of the fire conditions at the house. However, he confirmed the house fire is located at a house directly west of Meyer Street and the first house north of Elgin Mall.
Battalion Chief 1 reported a defensive operation underway immediately after arrival.
Initially, there was no word on any injuries at the scene of the fire.
On Wednesday, September 6, 2017 about 9:30 a.m. two people were injured in a house fire and explosion in the block of 900 Carol Avenue in Elgin.
