Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:59 PM Wednesday December 13, 2017 to a report of a gas leak and a fire at American Engineering, 3 West College Drive Arlington Heights, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a gas leak and a fire inside the building. The fire was possibly located on the east side or northeast corner of the building.
Engine 4’s crew on arrival reported nothing showing.
Battalion Chief 1 requested a Working Fire response (Code 4) by 7:04 p.m.
Engine 2’s crew brought a ground ladder to the roof to check a vent near the location of a heater that was on fire inside the building.
The fire was under control within minutes, and firefighters checked the flue area on the roof above the heater for any possible fire extension.
Extra crews were returned at about 7:16 p.m.
