Chicago police, firefighters and paramedics responded about 11:53 a.m. Saturday December 16, 2017 after a female victim was injured during a carjacking near West 15th Street and South State Street in Chicago’s South Loop.
The 20-year-old woman, who works at the nearby Firestone Complete Auto Care and was on break, suffered a broken leg Saturday morning when a male offender forcibly took her car in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood.
The carjacker grabbed the woman from behind and knocked her down as she attempted to enter her vehicle behind a condo building at West 15th Street and South State Street. The offender took her keys, and fled with her 2008 BMW, which was not immediately recovered. Her own vehicle hit her leg, and caused a fractured bone in her leg.
The woman also suffered head injuries, and could not recall details of the crime, according to Chicago police. She was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in stable condition, according to Chicago police.
The condo building doorman, Tony Thomas, and several residents rushed to her aid.
No suspects were in custody Saturday, December 16, 2017.
