Lake County Sheriff’s deputies and Long Grove, Buffalo Grove and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:46 a.m. Saturday December 9, 2017 to a single-vehicle rollover SUV crash.

A Lake County Sheriff’s deputy on the scene by 12:50 a.m. confirmed entrapment of the driver.

Long Grove Battalion Chief 55 on arrival reported a large SUV on its side also at 12:50 a.m. Crews reporte one adult male was inside the SUV, entrapped and injured.

The male patient, and sole occupant of the vehicle, was extricated by firefighter/paramedics by 1:05 a.m.

Overnight snow likely led to slippery conditions that contributed to the rollover crash. According to the Google Traffic Map layer, the entire stretch of Route 53 from Lake Cook Road to Route 83 showed traffic was moving at reduced speeds at the time of the crash.

The 78-year-old male driver of a 2009 Cadillac Escalade was northbound on Route 53 just north and east of Middlesax Drive when lost control of the large SUV and drove into a ditch and rolled on its side.

Firefighter/paramedics rescued the driver out the rear window of the Cadillac Escalade. The man was transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights with injuries that were initially believed to be “non-life-threatening injuries.

No citations were issued, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s office.
