Bartlett police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:20 a.m. Sunday December 10, 2017 to a report of an armed, barricaded man in the block of 1000 Independence Drive. The standoff ended without any reported injuries by 10:15 a.m. Sunday morning at the neighborhood of single-family homes, just west of Sunrise Park.
Barlett Police Department activated the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Services Team (NIPAS EST) after discovering they had a barricaded person situation. NIPAS EST is a tactical team, also known as a SWAT team.
No information about the reason for the standoff, investigation, or any possible charges were available early Sunday afternoon.
Residents in the neighborhood were asked to stay inside their homes, and others were asked to stay out of the area Sunday morning. Police also used Twitter to make two notifications at 9:15 a.m. and 10:03 a.m. Sunday.
