Rolling Meadows police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:54 AM Wednesday November 1, 2017 to a report of a semi-trailer truck crash with a utility pole near Kirchoff Road and Meadow Drive, Rolling Meadows, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a semi-trailer truck crash with a utility pole at the driveway into the Community Church of Rolling Road from Meadow Drive.
The wood utility pole was snapped approximately in half. The upper half of the pole was hanging by electric wires and data cables, suspended above the sidewalk.
The fire crew on arrival requested police for traffic control.
At 3:05 PM Wednesday ComEd reported that eleven customers were affected by the outage. The outage may have been larger before ComEd isolated the outage.

Customers Affected: 11
Crew Status: Additional Crews Required
Probable Cause: Vehicle Accident
Estimated Restoration: Nov 1, 6:30 PM
While backing up out of the Community Church of Rolling Meadows parking lot, the driver apparently snagged an angled metal guide wire — installed to stabilize the pole. The trucks contact with the guide wire put stress on the wood utility pole, causing it to snap. Firefighters and police quickly isolated the hazard as ComEd worked to mitigate the hazard, and then repair the pole and lines by about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Truck, guide wire, and snapped pole at northwest driveway of Community Church of Rolling Meadows on Meadow Drive north of Kirchoff Road.
