Elk Grove Village police responded about 4:35 PM Saturday November 25, 2017 to assist Bellwood and Illinois State Police for a police pursuit where the suspect/driver bailed out of a U-Haul van or pickup truck near I-290/IL 53 NB and Biesterfield Rd Elk Grove Village, IL. Police received a report that a Bellwood police unit was pursuing a U-Haul van or pickup truck.
Currently it is unknown if the suspect was wanted for a traffic violation or some other case. The suspect failed to stop at the beginning of the attempted traffic stop on westbound I-290 near St Charles Road. The pursuit continued westbound on I-290, but was terminated somewhere between York Road and Biesterfield Road on I-290/IL-53 at 4:22 p.m.
The vehicle was sighted again and picked up for pursuit — possibly by Illinois State Police (not confirmed). On the second leg of the pursuit, the suspect bailed out of the vehicle and ran into the Busse Woods Forest Preserve in the area just west of Alexian Brothers Medical Center, just north of Biesterfield Road about 4:35 p.m.
A search of the Busse Woods Forest Preserve was underway while the suspect was at large. Police declared the suspect in custody about 4:55 p.m.
The suspect is described as a male/Hispanic 5’7″ 150 LBS, wearing Carhartt work jeans.
