Midlothian police and firefighters responded just after 11:00 p.m. Saturday November 25, 2017 to a report of a fire in a strip mall on 147th St just west of Pulaski Road. Upon arrival firefighters reported the strip mall was already well-involved with fire.
Midlothian police officers kicked in doors in two rear apartments and rescued residents from those apartments.
No injuries were reported.
The fire was upgraded to a Full Still Alarm at 11:39 p.m. and a MABAS 22 Box Alarm at 11:56 p.m. The extra alarm fire was struck out at 2:52 a.m. Sunday.
The fire destroyed Midlothian’s Midwest Meat Market, owned by Catherine and Abe Fino, and Lisa’s Diner, owned by Lisa Kenealy. A hair and nail salon in an attached building directly to the west of the building on fire was saved, but was damage by heat, smoke and water. The salon is closed temporarily.
