BED GETS PUSHED ACROSS BEDROOM BY SCHOOL BUS
Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:34 AM Thursday October 19, 2017 to a report of a school bus crash into a house with no school children on board, Landmeier Road and Holly Lane Elk Grove Village, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a school bus crashed into a house with no school children on board.
The first Elk Grove Village fire crew on arrival reported a school bus in a yard.
At least two people were sleeping in bed(s) near the impact zone at a corner bedroom at the northeast corner of the house. The bus crash impact pushed the bed across the room while people were still on it — sleeping. The people in the bedroom initially had no idea what happened.
All five people refused medical treatment and ambulance transportation. The two drivers and three people near the impact area in the house on the northwest corner initially reported no injuries. A total of five people were in the house at the time of the crash. Police did not release the identities of the drivers.
Elk Grove Village Deputy Police Chief Mike Gaspari said the crash is still under investigation, but that the school bus driver issued a citation for failure to yield.
Gaspari said the bus, operated by First Student, was crossing Landmeier Road on northbound Holly Lane when it collided with an eastbound passenger vehicle. There are stop signs for northbound and southbound traffic, but vehicles traveling through that intersection on Landmeier are not required to stop.

According to Elk Grove Village Police, the school bus was northbound on Ridge Avenue/Holly Lane crossing Landmeier Road when a crash occurred with a black sedan that was eastbound on Landmeier Road.
The school bus veered right, going up on the lawn at a house on the northeast corner of Landmeier Road and Holly Lane. To avoid hitting a car parked on the driver at the next house north, the school bus driver apparently steered back to the left, but the bus crossed Holly Lane and circled back slightly to hit a house on the northwest corner of Landmeier Road and Holly Lane. The school bus hit the northeast corner of the house, causing severe damage to walls, windows, part of the roof, and a fence in the backyard.
The black sedan, which had temporary license tags had severe front-end damage after the crash, and was probably totaled.
