Illinois State Police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:22 PM Saturday October 21, 2017 to a report of a rollover crash with a car fire on I-90 WB near the top of the entrance ramp from southbound Arlington Heights Road Road in Arlington Heights, Il. The 9-1-1 caller reported a rollover crash with injuries, and the vehicle on fire on the ramp from southbound ramp from Arlington Heights Road to westbound I-90.
The crash was on the westbound local lanes of the tollway or on the upper part of the ramp.
Engine 3’s crew on arrival reported a fully-involved vehicle fire with the vehicle on its roof. Firefighters were immediately out working to extinguish the fire with a hose line.
Firefighters reported only one person was involved in the crash, and was out of the vehicle and “OK” on initial contact by 11:26 p.m. The driver of the crashed vehicle was up and walking when firefighter/paramedics arrived.
Tower Ladder 1 was assigned to the crash at 11:26 p.m. to help with tollway crash scene protection and additional water supply.
Engine 3’s crew requested Elk Grove Township’s tanker at 11:27 p.m, in case extra water as needed — Tender 11 was assigned.
Tender 11’s crew was not needed, but was assigned in case Arlington Heights fire units ran out of water on the tollway.
