Former Chicago White Sox pitcher Daniel Webb, age 28, died after an ATV crash on Dry Creek Road in Humphreys County, western Tennessee Saturday night. His new wife and two other people were also injured in the crash.
The ATV hit an object in a wooded area, flipped and caused Webb to suffer a broken neck.
Webb pitched in 57 games for the White Sox in 2014. He pitched 110 innings in his career, striking out 93. Webb was injured in 2016, and underwent Tommy John surgery in June, and was released by the White Sox, and had not pitched professionally since the surgery.
Daniel left many friends within the Chicago White Sox organization, and we are all shocked and stunned by the news of last night’s terrible accident. He was a terrific young man with a full life ahead of him. All thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends as they deal with today’s tragic news.

Webb was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2009, and was traded to the Chicago White Sox in 2009. At Yankee Stadium in September 2013 — his first performance as a major league pitcher — Webb walked Derek Jeter.
