Mount Prospect Fire Department firefighters were busy fighting two fires late Sunday night and early Monday, Labor Day morning. An apartment fire about 11:39 p.m. injured a woman at an apartment on Algonquin Road, and a deck fire caused significant damage on Cherrywood Drive.
Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:39 PM Sunday September 3, 2017 to a report of an apartment fire 2012 West Algonquin Road Arlington Heights, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of an apartment fire with a woman saying everything in her living room is on fire, and she is unable to evacuate.
An activated fire alarm also accompanied the phone call to 9-1-1.
The first fire crew on arrival reported a 2-story multi-family unit with no signs of evacuation.
Firefighters had water on the fire, and a female victim was rescued by 11:53 p.m.
The fire was under control by 12:03 a.m.
The fire was contained to one unit. No other victims were reported, but two people were displaced by the damage caused to the apartment unit.

Next firefighters responded to a deck fire. A neighbor reported about 4:24 a.m. Monday that a deck fire was burning behind a neighbor’s house — behind 1116 Cherrywood Drive.
Engine 12’s crew on arrival reported nothing showing from 1117 Oakwood. After a walk to the backyard, firefighters reported a deck fire.
Firefighters had water on the fire with the fire out by 4:31 a.m. Arlington Heights E3’s crew checked the interior of the house for extension. There was no extension of fire reported.
The deck fire apparently started from a fire still burning in a fire pit.
