Rolling Meadows police responded about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday September 26, 2017 to a report of a bank robbery at Fifth Third Bank, 1801 West Algonquin Road. A note was given to a teller, and no weapon was displayed. The offender took an undisclosed amount of cash.
The offender was described as a male/black, approximately 6’2″ to 6’3″ with a slender build. The offender was wearing a long-sleeved, button-down red shirt, dark sunglasses, a black hat, black tie and dark pants.
Any witnesses or citizens with information are urged to contact Rolling Meadows Police Department by calling 847-255-2416.
Apparently, no wide area radio ISPERN message was broadcast to area police departments regarding the Rolling Meadows robbery.
Later on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., the same suspect is believed to have robbed the Chase Bank at 22W151 Butterfield Road in Glen Ellyn.
At the Glen Ellyn bank robbery, the suspect was described as having a tall, thin build, wearing a black cap, a gray button down shirt, a black T-shirt, black pants, and gold aviator sunglasses.
In Glen Ellyn a handgun was implied, but not displayed.
The suspect in Glen Ellyn was last seen southbound on foot near Route 53 from Butterfield Road.
The suspect is believed to have robbed three other banks in the last nine days.
• The TCF Bank at 1156 Maple Ave. in Lisle about 7 p.m. Sept. 18.
• The TCF Bank at 2128 Mannheim Road in Westchester at 6:22 p.m. Sept. 20.
• The US Bank at 13521 S. Route 59 in Plainfield at 3:15 p.m. Sept. 23.
The suspect has also been seen at other banks waiting near the teller counter before walking away without committing a bank robbery, according to FBI Special Agent Garrett Croon.
The FBI is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
