Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded about 11:20 PM Wednesday August 23, 2017 to a call of shots fired near Norelius Avenue and Thompson Street, Round Lake, IL. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies determined that a 17-year-old boy had been shot.
The teen was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Thursday morning, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Sgt. Christopher Covelli.
The shooting occurred in the street in the general area located west of Fairfield Road and South of Rollins Road, between Rollins and Route 134 in unincorporated Lake County, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Sgt. Christopher Covelli. The vague area covers about 1.5 mile north and south of the intersection of Norelius Avenue and Thompson Street, and apparently between Long Lake and Fairfield Road.
The victim is not from the area of the neighborhood of the shooting, according to Covelli. No hometown information or situational details about the victim were immediately available.
