A rental van was driven onto the sidewalk for more than a block and struck pedestrians in a crowded street in Barcelona on Thursday August 17, 2017, causing multiple deaths and injuries. Police have immediately called this a terror attack.

Authorities said they were looking for at least one suspect in the in Las Ramblas, a district of Barcelona, which is a popular area for tourists.
Unconfirmed unofficial early reports are that 13 pedestrians were killed and about 30 injured. The Mossos d’Esquadra (police force of Catalonia, including the province of Barcelona @Mossos) initially reported one fatality and 32 injured.
There are reports that armed men or an armed man entered a Turkish restaurant near the area where the offending van came to a stop.
