Wheeling police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:58 AM Tuesday August 29, 2017 to report of a crash near Dundee Road and Portwine Road Wheeling, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a crash with injuries on Dundee Road east of Milwaukee Avenue closer to Portwine Road.
Wheeling Engine 23’s crew on arrival reported a vehicle fire under control with a person trapped — upgrading the call to an extrication response.
Engine 23’s crew reported, by 12:08 p.m., that the patient was extricated from the car, but requests additional crews to continue to the scene.
Battalion Chief 24 reports the vehicle fire is out by 12:11 p.m.
Ambulance 24’s crew was transporting one patient to Glenbrook Hospital about 12:14 p.m.
Traffic was congested in both directions between Portwine Road and the Des Plaines River.
Second ambulance requested by 12:19 p.m.
