Buffalo Grove police responded about 4:00 a.m. Tuesday August 15, 2017 to a report from an anonymous caller that four juveniles were going through vehicles in the Cherbourg subdivision, which is north of Route 83 about half way north to Deerfield Parkway and east of Buffalo Grove Road. The neighborhood consists of townhouses with attached garages.
Upon arrival, Buffalo Grove police discovered two suspects, age 16 and 17. Both were allegedly trying to break into a ride-sharing Lyft driver’s vehicle.
Police said that the two teens admitted to breaking into vehicles and told officers that two friends were also involved. Officers searched the neighborhood and found two other teenagers — both 16-years-old. Police said all four teens were residents of Chicago.
Police said that one of the teens was charged with criminal trespass to vehicle, theft, and violation of curfew. The other three teens were charged with violating curfew, but were not charged with criminal trespass to vehicle.
Police were checking for damaged vehicles, but were unsure how many total vehicles were entered or forcibly entered.
Buffalo Grove police urges anyone with information about the case, or with information about missing items from their vehicle(s) to call the Buffalo Grove Police Department at 847-459-2560.
