Small basement fire immediately extinguished on Pine Avenue at Eastman Street, Arlington Heights.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:14 AM Saturday July 8, 2017 to a report of an activated fire alarm at a house, followed by a report of smoke in the house, and then flames and smoke showing in the basement of a 2-story home at 215 North Pine Avenue Arlington Heights, Il. Police were first on arrival and reported flames showing inside the basement. The resident had broken a basement window and attempted to extinguish the fire from the outside with a garden hose. The homeowner knocked back some flames, and when firefighters arrived, they entered the basement to investigate.
Engine 2’s crew initially on arrival reported nothing showing.
An all clear on the primary search of the home was declared by 4:21 a.m.
The fire was extinguished by 4:25 a.m. and firefighters were working on ventilation by 4:26 a.m.
No injuries were initially reported at the scene.
