Ariel Rossa: “If you are going to pick your dog’s toy in the dark, make sure it’s not a live rattlesnake! Thankfully my wife was not bit, but she needs to work on running away skills!”
Calabasas, California resident Carla Rossa got a big surprise when she reached down for what she thought was her dog’s rope toy, and it felt squishy like a hot dog. It was actually a baby rattlesnake.
The encounter was caught on the family’s backyard patio security camera, and her husband, Ariel Rossa couldn’t resist posting the video on YouTube.
The Rossa family called Los Angeles County Fire to help out and firefighters destroyed the snake. Firefighters warned Carla Rossa that baby rattlesnakes are even more dangerous than adults because they can’t control their venom. Bank of America and The Cheesecake Factory are top nationally-known employers located in Calabasas.
Calabasas, California is located about 23 miles west-northwest of Los Angeles — located in the hills west of the San Fernando Valley and in the northwest Santa Monica Mountains with a population of about 23,058.
