Wheeling police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:51 AM Wednesday June 28, 2017 to a report of an unconscious man behind Evanger’s 221 South Wheeling Road Wheeling, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics found a man that was unconscious and unresponsive behind Evanger’s Pet Food.
Police identified the man as Jose Luis Reyes-Leon of Wheeling as he was treated and transported to Glenbrook Hospital, where he was pronounced dead Wednesday morning.
Police took precautions during an investigation to rule out foul play. Police from other agencies as part of the Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) were also on scene with the MCAT large van.
After the investigation Wednesday, foul play was not suspected, and the death is believed to be accidental or medically related.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office performed an autopsy today, and the ruling on the cause of Reyes-Leon’s death is pending further toxicology analysis.
