More than 110 juried artists showcased their original work near the intersection of Campbell Street and Vail Avenue and Harmony Park at the annual Promenade of Art Saturday in downtown Arlington Heights. The event continues today.
A very comfortable day for attendees with a high of 90°F with a strong breeze. The winds caused a few problems for artist attempting to prevent damage to their artwork.
The art fest includes exhibits of ceramics, jewelry, paintings, photography, and sculpture. Several artists also presented live art demonstrations.
The usual excellent aromas from multiple fine dining establishments filled the air as well, and some restaurants offered specials for diners. Shakou, a new sushi restaurant at Vail Avenue and Wing Street with open windows was tempting, but it was only open for employee orientation …

A water main break at Vail Avenue and Sigwalt Street was contained well south of the art festival area.
The Promenade of Art continues Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
