Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:34 AM Thursday to 717 West Kirchhoff Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a power line was down near St Simon’s Church, near Kirchhoff Road and Fernandez Avenue.
Internally Northwest Community Hospital personnel also responded to a Utility Failure Alert at the Busse Center for Specialty Medicine (Building 1). it was not confirmed whether the downed power line near St Simon’s was connected to the Utility Failure at at the Busse center for Specialty Medicine. The extent of the utility failure at the Busse Center was unknown. The building houses a Cardiac Testing Center, Cardiac Cath Lab, Imaging (MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine), Neurodiagnostics, Nutrition Services, Outpatient Lab Services, Pacemaker Clinic, Pre-admission Testing, Radiology, Respiratory Care, Ultrasound, and other services.
Due to repairs with ComEd trucks in the roadway, Kirchhoff Road was closed between Central Road and Dwyer Avenue and/or Wilke Road. ComEd responded to numerous power line damage calls after Wednesday night’s storm at about 11:30 p.m. Kirchhoff Road was reopened by about 1:30 p.m.
About 420 ComEd customers are without power nearby in an area centered around Fairview Street and Patton Avenue near Pioneer Park.
About 5 ComEd customers are without power near St Simon’s Episcopal Church.
Fire Engine 2’s crew initially responded to investigate the power line trouble about 9:34 a.m. and was in position on Kirchhoff Road, just east of St. Simon’s Church.
