Chicago police responded about 2:00 p.m. Friday to a report of an officer down at 4619 West Maypole Avenue. The location is on the City of Chicago’s west side.
The police officer was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Initially it was not confirmed whether the offender was also shot, or was injured in some other manner. Police later confirmed that the other person was also shot, and transported to Stroger Cook County Hospital.
The police officer is initially believed to be not seriously injured. The suspect’s condition was not released as of 3:30 p.m.
