Troubling cellphone video has emerged showing New York City police officers threatening high school students with a stun-baton and verbally taunting them. The NYPD is “aware of the incident” and the evidence is under review. RT America’s Trinity Chavez reports.
A troubling incident involving NYPD officers and high school teens walking home from school was captured by Brooklyn College Sociology Associate Professor Alex Vitale.
Vitale is also the author of The End of Policing — a book that attempts to open “public discussion of policing by revealing the tainted origins of modern policing as a tool of social control and demonstrating how the expanded role of the police is inconsistent with community empowerment, social justice—even public safety.”
It is unknown whether the youths were involved in any activity that may have prompted the police reaction.
