Crystal Lake police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:03 PM Monday to a report of a stabbing near the Taco Bell, 420 West Virginia Street, Crystal Lake, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics initially received a report that several people were stabbed. The location of the assailant or assailants was unknown.
Police and firefighter/paramedics quickly discovered that two people had been stabbed, but initially police could not find the victims inside the Taco Bell or near the Taco Bell.
When police couldn’t initially find any victims at Taco Bell, they checked the apartments next door because they responded to a stabbing at the nearby apartments within the last week.
Police reported hearing people yelling at the Drive-Thru and found two victims near the Taco Bell Drive-Thru. Police reported one person with a knife stuck in his nose and face. The scene was immediately declared secure and paramedics were moved up by 8:07 p.m.
One lane of Virginia was shut down.
Ambulance 351’s crew was en route with one Advanced Life Support patient to Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center McHenry by 8:12 p.m. Extra paramedics from the Engine 344’s crew were on board, and police followed.
A second person was evaluated and/or transported by Ambulance 352’s crew. Witnesses reported the victims appeared to be teens.
Police immediately canvassed neighborhoods and businesses east and west of Taco Bell.
Police received information that the stabbing did not happen at Taco Bell, but occurred at a house — possibly with a Buick parked in front with “stripes or triangles on it.”
Police alerted area police departments that the suspects’ vehicle was possibly a silver 4-door sedan — unknown make or model. One suspect was described as a male/Hispanic, 18-20 years-old, 5’9″ to 5’10” wearing a baseball style hat (unknown color), a maroon or red long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt, khaki pants, and a Gucci silver-buckled belt.
