Bedford Park police responded about 12:50 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 to people shot at the Walmart Supercenter, 7050 South Cicero Avenue. Police and firefighter/paramedics discovered one person with a gunshot wound, and one person injured after being hit by a vehicle.
Bedford Park police said that people in two vehicles were traveling on Cicero Avenue, and were allegedly flashing gang signs to each other. The vehicles pulled into the Walmart parking lot, and the driver of one of the vehicles stopped. Two people got out of the stopped vehicle, and the driver of the other vehicle ran over one of them. Shots were fired, and the driver, who hit the pedestrian, was shot at least once in the face.
One person was immediately in custody, and several area businesses were placed on lockdown, during the initial investigation and search for the shooter(s).
Two patients were transported by paramedics to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
