Harvey Levin: Hillary Clinton “smiling down on him” at the White House.
President Donald J. Trump was greeted with applause and cheers from a group of about 50 tourists, mostly children, who were gathered in the basement of the White House residence.
Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday March 7, 2017, the president surprised a tour group with an appearance, then motioned for some of the children to join him for a picture. Ten-year old Jack Cornish, a 5th grader at Briarwood Christian School in Birmingham, Alabama, approached the president.
After taking a picture with Cornish, the president left, and the group to continued their 45-minute tour, according to the White House pool report.
First lady Melania Trump announced the reopening of the White House, after it was closed to tours for several weeks, in a statement earlier this week.
