Arlington Heights police responded about 7:00 AM Friday to multiple property damage crashes on Palatine Road near the intersection of Palatine Road and Highland Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police responded to several property damage crashes after a water main break occurred on North Highland Avenue just south of Palatine Road and caused icing on Palatine Road.
Palatine Road was backed up from Highland Avenue to Route 53 at 8:00 a.m.
Northbound Route 53 was also backed up from Palatine Road to Euclid Avenue because of the congestion on Palatine Road. About 8:40 a.m. northbound Route 53 was backed up almost to Algonquin Road.
Eastbound express lanes of Palatine Road re-opened at Kennicott Avenue at 8:42 a.m. Express lanes were narrowed to one lane near the repair work at Highland Avenue and where the express lanes and frontage lanes merge to local lanes. The frontage lanes of eastbound Palatine Road remained closed Friday morning.
Air temperature at O’Hare International Airport was 23°F at 7:51 a.m.
