Hoffman Estates police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:26 PM Tuesday to a report of an apartment fire at Barrington Lakes Apartments, 2020 Hassell Road Hoffman Estates, Il.
Engine 22 crew on arrival report dense black smoke showing, evacuation, and flames showing from the A-Side “near the corner.”
Battalion Chief 6 reported fire on two levels with fire through the roof by 7:32 p.m. and upgraded the call to a Box Alarm.
Fire under control at 7:49 p.m.
Primary and secondary search complete and all clear by 7:54 p.m.

A 62-year-old man was rescued by a neighbor. The man was transported with burns to his hands and face to St. Alexius Medical Center, and transferred to the Burn Center at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Daily Herald reporter Chacour Koop reported Tuesday night that a nursing assistant, Malgorzata Rostecka, who lives nearby the apartment, rescued the 62-year-old man who was leaning on a wall in the apartment building. She went into the apartment and led the man out of danger.
