Illinois State police and Hoffman Estates firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:10 AM Saturday to a report of a semi-trailer truck fire on EB I-90 at M 59.5 Hoffman Estates, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a semi-trailer truck was on fire on the right shoulder.
The cargo was reported to be apples. The fire appeared to be contained to the rear end of the trailer.
Hoffman Estates Battalion Chief 6 while responding reported a fully-involved semi-trailer truck fire. A second engine was requested, and Hoffman Estates Engine 22 was assigned for water supply. The crew was advised to enter or stage at the Beverly Road entrance ramp.
The trailer was reported to be on fire and already released from the tractor by 1:17 a.m.
According to firefighters, the trailer was confirmed to be detached, and the cargo was confirmed to be apples.
The fire was extinguished by about 1:30 p.m.
