On January 30, 2017 at 4:40 p.m., Wauconda Police Officers were dispatched to the block of 600 East Bonner Rd., Wauconda, for a barricaded male subject. Wauconda Police Officers were
originally dispatched to a domestic in progress involving the male subject, his mother and father.
Upon arriving to the residence, police met with the mother and father in the driveway. They informed police that the male had cut himself and had poured gasoline throughout the residence.
The male subject spoke to officers but refused to let them inside. Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (LCMEG), Illinois State Police SWAT, ILEAS and Wauconda Fire District were contacted to assist Wauconda Police Department.
After several hours of negotiations, the male subject surrendered to SWAT in the front yard of his residence and was taken into custody on 1/31/17 at 12:55 a.m. He was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital for a psychological evaluation.
The incident is still under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
