Waukegan Police responded about 1:50 a.m. Saturday to a report of shots fired at Crossland Chicago — Waukegan extended stay motel, 1177 South Northpoint Boulevard near US 41 and Route 120. Police arrived to a large fight scene and aftermath, but did not find anyone shot.
Soon three males in their late teens to early 20s arrived at two nearby hospitals with gunshot wounds, according to police.
One of the shooting victims was a man from Zion, who was shot in the head and hip. He was investigated and discovered to be wanted on a warrant from the Lake County sheriff’s Office for fleeing a police officer and assault, according to police. He also had a warrant for his arrest for armed robbery from the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Also shot were a juvenile from Gurnee, and a juvenile from Zion. Both of the juvenile victims were shot in one of their legs, according to police.
Four other juveniles, involved in the incident, were taken into custody for curfew, obstructing, marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia possession, according to police.
Investigators learned that multiple rooms were rented at the extended stay motel for a party. Multiple guns were believed to have been fired during the fight. None of the guns were recovered.
Any citizens with information are urged to call the police tip-line at 847-360-9001. Many people at the scene were not cooperative regarding any information requested by the police.
