UPDATE: Evergreen Park Murder Suspect Shot, Killed After Shootout on Metra Train Stopped Near Lake Cook Station

Northbrook police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:58 PM Friday to a report of two people shot near the Metra train station, 601 Lake Cook Road Deerfield, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that two people were shot near the Metra Lake Cook Road train station. A third injured was also person was found at the scene — apparently also a gunshot victim [In an update it was discovered that one person was shot and killed, and two law enforcement officers with the South Suburban Major Crime Task Force sustained minor injuries, but not gunshot wounds, during the incident].

The scene was reported secure by 10:59 p.m. with one victim in front of the Tile Shop east of the Metra train depot.

Initially, it was report that one GSW victim was on the east side of the train depot and one GSW victim was on the west side of the train depot.

A third ambulance was requested at 11:05 p.m.

Northbrook firefighter/paramedics were on scene with possibly three gunshot victims — one critical and two stable [Actually, only one gunshot victim — murder suspect].

The third injured person also apparently has a GSW — but the information was not confirmed.

There is also police activity at the Deerfield Portillo’s, which is ironic because protesters gathered outside the Deerfield Portillo’s at the grand opening in November 2016 to demonstrate to persuade Portillo’s to ban guns at all of Portillo’s locations. The Deerfield Portillo’s is located at 700 Lake Cook Road, about 1200 feet northwest of the Metra train station. [Train passengers were eventually evacuated or disembarked from the Metra train, and were staged near Home Depot and Portillo’s just northwest of the scene of a police shootout and police-involved shooting that eventually killed a murder suspect being investigated for a homicide in Evergreen Park Thursday night.]
