Wheeling police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:36 PM Monday to a report of a commercial building fire at Hospital Laundry Service, 45 West Hintz Road Wheeling, Il.
Firefighters responded to an activated Fire Alarm at a commercial laundry service — Hospital Laundry Service.
Next firefighters received a report of a fire close to the back door of a large commercial building.
Police, on the scene first, reported heavy black smoke coming from the roof, smoke inside the building, and evacuations in progress by 10:38 p.m.
The call was immediately upgraded to a Code 4, working fire, based on the police onscene report.
The fire was extinguished by about 10:50 p.m. and firefighters were working on overhaul by about 10:54 p.m.
Mobile Ventilation Unit 1 on the scene at about 11:12 p.m. and was assigned to an overhead door at the building to clear smoke out of the building.
