A Bloomingdale police officer did not survive a crash after a police SUV was crashed into a large light pole at the intersection of Army Trail Road and Cardinal Drive.
Bloomingdale police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:36 PM Thursday to a report of crash with injuries and entrapment at Army Trail Road and Cardinal Drive Bloomingdale, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a crash with entrapment with a police officer injured.
PHOTOS DURING CRASH INVESTIGATION …
The first fire crew on arrival reported a police vehicle on fire, and wrapped around a pole by 9:40 p.m.
Crews immediately extinguished the fire and went to work with extrication, which was completed by 9:44 p.m.
Bloomingdale firefighter/paramedics transport the police officer, who was in cardiac arrest at the scene, to Adventist GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights.
Army Trail Road was closed for an extended period for investigation overnight. The intersection of Army Trail Road and Cardinal Drive is just south of the Hilton Chicago/Indian Lakes Resort. The unmarked gray police SUV hit a large traffic signal/light standard on the northwest corner of Army Trail Road and Cardinal Drive. The SUV hit the pole on the driver’s side, while the vehicle came to rest heading eastbound on the westbound parkway of Army Trail Road.
