Apple cut Cook’s pay by 15% last year to $8.7 million, according to a filing released on Friday. Apple cited the company’s failure to meet its performance goals for both sales and profits. Sagging iPhone sales last year caused Apple to suffer its first annual revenue decline in 15 years.

Tim Cook seems like a nice man, but he's not a good CEO of @Apple. https://t.co/Wnl9LOjzlJ

The parallels between Gates and Ballmer and Jobs and Cook are eerie. Apple under Cook has doubled its revenue to $200 billion while doubling profit and tripling the amount of cash it has in the bank (now a quarter of a trillion dollars). The iPhone continues its annual upgrades with incremental improvements. Yet in five years the only truly new product that’s managed to ship is the Apple Watch.
