Police: DUI Driver Tackled Homeowner During Foot Pursuit While Fleeing Crashed, Stolen Car into House
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:50 AM Saturday to a report of a car crash into a house at 315 South Ridge Avenue Arlington Heights, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a car crashed into the living room of a house. The male driver of the car was reported to have been fleeing northbound Ridge Avenue on foot.
The homeowner caught up with the driver about two blocks away, and the driver was in police custody by 5:00 a.m. The driver ran northbound on Ridge Avenue and then east on South Street. The driver was apparently not injured.
The building department was requested to the scene to inspect the house for structural stability. Apparently no serious structural damage occurred.
The vehicle that hit the house was a maroon, small-size Cadillac, which was towed to a police towing area.
The apparently impaired driver was being investigated for possible DUI.
