Park police responded about 5:17 p.m. Thursday December 15, 2016 to the Walgreens, 800 E. Devon Avenue to a report of an armed robbery. Police received a report that a tall, thin, black male approached the pharmacy counter and told a pharmacy employee he wanted a bottle of prescription narcotics.
According to a report to the police, when the pharmacy employee told the man he needed a prescription, the man lifted his shirt to reveal a black handgun in his waistband. The pharmacy employee then complied with the offender’s request and gave the drugs to the man. The identity of the drugs were not specified by police.
The suspect was described as a male/black with a light complexion, tall with a thin build, and a thin mustache. He was wearing a black “puffy” jacket, black beanie style cap, black baggy jeans and red and white sneakers.
The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot on Devon Avenue. The suspect remains at large.
Police report the robbery does not appear to be connected to the robbery of a 7-Eleven at Oakton Street and Northwest Highway in Park Ridge on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. A white male in his mid-20s said he had a weapon and demanded cash from the register. That suspect also remains at large.
