Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:52 AM Thursday to a report of a pedestrian hit by a Metra train at Northwest Highway and Edward Street Mount Prospect, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics initially received a report that a person was hit by a train at Northwest Highway and Mount Prospect Road.
Initially the train was reported to be a westbound train that hit the pedestrian. Next it was reported that inbound train #608 hit the pedestrian.
E61 requesting trains shut down at 6:57 a.m.
Inbound and outbound train movement has been halted near Mount Prospect due to train #608, scheduled to arrive Chicago at 7:17 a.m., striking a pedestrian. The duration of this delay is unknown. Train #608 normally has a scheduled departure from Mount Prospect at 6:44 a.m. and a scheduled arrival at Ogilvie Transportation Center at 7:17 a.m.
