Fox Lake firefighter/paramedics and Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded about 8:37 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle near Squaw Bar, 800 Rollins Road in unincorporated Ingleside.
A 70-year-old woman was killed at the scene when she was hit by a GMC Yukon. She was crossing Rollins Road near Blackhawk Avenue in unincorporated Ingleside Saturday night, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman, identified as Bonnie Tarkowski, of Ingleside, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Lake County Coroner was called to the scene by 8:40 p.m. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported that Tarkowski was crossing the road and walking toward the south shoulder, when she was struck by an eastbound 2006 GMC Yukon. The driver of the GMC Yukon, a Fox Lake woman, age 43, was not injured.
The speed limit on Rollins Road is 35 MPH at the scene — near the Chain O’Lakes Bike Path just east of the Village of Fox Lake border. The fatal incident is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
