A man is facing three counts of attempted murder for driving into three police officers that were standing near their police SUV.
Three police officers reacted quickly Tuesday when a driver aimed his car at them and tried to hit them with his vehicle at a QuikTrip gas station at 25th Avenue and Camelback Road in Phoenix. One of the police officers was launched into the air when he was hit. Two police officers were hospitalized, but one was able to apprehend and arrest the driver.
It was the first day on the job for the officer who was sent flying into the air by the impact with the offender’s vehicle. He is 33-years-old. A police sergeant was temporarily pinned underneath the police SUV, and suffered a broken leg.
The offending driver was identified as Marc LaQuon Payne. He was charged with three counts of Attempted Murder.
