For 15 years the Wheaton College football team has echoed “Let’s Roll” before every game. CBS Sports reports that this season Todd Beamer’s son, David, will play for Wheaton College.
Todd Beamer (November 24, 1968 – September 11, 2001) — graduate of Wheaton College — was a software account manager at Oracle Corporation and a passenger aboard United Airlines Flight 93, which was hijacked and crashed on September 11, 2001.
As for the terrorist attacks in 2001? The terrorists on one aircraft did not reach their target, which was either the White House or the US Capitol. Todd Beamer’s famous words “Let’s Roll” were expressed just before passengers aboard Flight 93 charged the terrorist hijackers. The passengers’ attempt to overtake the hijackers and reclaim the aircraft led to the aircraft’s crash into a field in Stonycreek Township near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
