Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:57 AM Wednesday to a report of a downed power line at 2730 North Kennicott Ave Arlington Heights, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a power line down in the backyard with a tree on fire.
Engine 4’s crew reported a primary line against a tree and smoking at 9:03 a.m.
Firefighters requested ComEd to the scene.
No widespread power outage reported as of 9:25 a.m. ComEd reported five customers without power in the area of Kennicott Avenue and Braeside Drive with restoration time estimated at 1:15 p.m.

While morning thunderstorms passing through during rush hour were considered sub-severe by the National Weather Service Office Chicago, there was some storm damage in the northwest suburbs. About 242 people were reported without power after damage to power lines from a lightning strike near Hillcrest Boulevard and Hampton Road.
