The Seattle Seahawks’ game saw the team’s coaches, employees and fans join players in protesting during the national anthem.
Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest point regarding claims of racial oppression and the killing of unarmed black men has expanded in NFL regular season games and youth athletics. Kaepernick has been deliberately not standing at NFL games during the national anthem because of what he regards as an anthem and country that does not represent all people. Other NFL players have dropped to one knee or raised a fist as part of the protest and in support of Kaepernick.
A counter faction, supporting the ideology of unity with the national anthem, has recommended a boycott of the NFL and its sponsors.
