UPDATE: Although, initially a gas leak was reported, there was no gas leak at Jimmy John’s. Firefighters may have temporarily shut off the gas utility, but all utilities are 100 percent functional and Jimmy John’s is expected to be open normal hours again starting Thursday, September 29, 2016. The Mount Prospect Building Department inspected the building, and found no structural damage.

Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:50 PM Wednesday to a report of crash into the Jimmy John’s business at Mount Prospect Plaza shopping center, 1220 East Central Road Mount Prospect, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a car crashed into Jimmy John’s with a female driver still inside the vehicle.
There was report of a gas leak associated with the crash, and a lot of glass broken.
Firefighters on the scene immediately shut off the gas utility to the building.
The driver was seen walking near the scene after she was able to get out of her vehicle.
