Veterinary Specialty Center’s Athletic Center is home to our new rehabilitation center that offers a wide variety of therapies for orthopedic patients, aging patients, and those battling obesity. CBS Chicago’s VInce Gerasole takes a look at our new facility and tells the story of some of our patients.
Veterinary Specialty Center (VSC), a multi-specialty veterinary and 24-hour emergency and critical care facility for pets at Milwaukee Avenue and Busch Parkway recently opened a recovery center to provide rehabilitation services for pets.
The new space is next to the main center which provides multi-specialty services and emergency services at 1515 Busch Parkway, Buffalo Grove.
The new development means animals can rest and recuperate in a quiet massage room or receive active physical therapy in a 3,600-square-foot physical therapy room, including an obstacle course, wobble boards, thera-balls, and an “underwater treadmill.”
According to the VSC website, the emergency facility in Buffalo Grove provides 24-hour emergency and critical care support including:
In-house laboratory testing
Continuous blood pressure measurement
Oxygen cages and nasal oxygen therapy
Blood gas/electrolyte monitoring
Pulse oximetry
End tidal CO2
Telemetry for continuous EKG monitoring
Central venous pressure monitoring
Advanced pain management
Continuous nebulization
Blood transfusion capability
Dr. Lindsay Seilheimer joins WCIU’s You & Me to talk on the types of animal patients this clinic sees. The therapy includes underwater treadmills, the gym, laser therapy and acupuncture.
VSC is also located in Chicago, Crystal Lake, and Mokena.
